Your pc would have to have a phone connection jack, either on the motherboard or a separate modem card. The hole is a little smaller than the one where you plug in your cable from your dsl or cable box and a wire from your telephone jack would plug into it. If you currently don't have either, you would have to purchase an internal or external modem.

This sounds great! But it says it requires a "dial-up-modem" and I don't know if I have that or not. I have used both CABLE and DSL (currently cable), and I have a phone jack nearby, but I don't know if I have a dial-up modem and if so, I don't know how to access it.

Gregg,
I used WinFax for years (from windows 95) until it gave up on me in XP. Then
tried the freebees, all of which I found lacking. I stumbled upon a little,
but powerful, fax application called Essential Fax at www.essentialfax. It
is an east set-up, with a number of bells and whistles, including auto
phone card dialing capability, attachment capabilities and more, and is
quite inexpensive at $19.95. Best of all you can try it free for 30 days.
You don't like it, you don't buy it. I have no interest or association with
this product or the company, but seeing what is out there at much higher
prices, I am still very impressed with it after over a year of use.
