The other way of doing this is to setup one of the computers as a
multi-homed computer. (2 NICS) 1 NIC plugs into the cable modem output and
the other NIC on the same computer goes to the hub. Then you install ICS
(Internet Connection Manager) if you are running Win98SE or Win2k Pro.
Obviously the other computers plug into the hub as well. Once the ICS is
installed and configured on the Multi-homed machine then you have to
setup any additional computers on the local network to use ICS as well.
During the installation of ICS on the Main computer you are prompted to
insert a floppy disk for creation of client config for other computers. Take
this disk and run the setup program on each of the additional local
computers.
The other point is that TCPIP has to be setup on each computer for the local
network. Use IP Address 192.168.0.1 & the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 for
the
main local machine NIC>For each additional computer/NIC increase the IP
address by 1.
(Example:192.168.0.2 and so on!)
Or as suggested go out and by a router.
