I don't have the answer to what registry entries are involved, but I solved
most of my view settings by using a save trick which was posted on some tips
forum. The trick is to set the view you want and then close the Explorer
window by pressing the Control key and clicking on the Close Window button
(the X in the upper right). Don't know why this makes a difference, but it
did the trick for me.

I still have a problem with the Control Panel Window. I have set it to
display large icons and enabled Auto Arrange. For some reason, this setting
gets lost once in a while for no apparent reason.
