Mr. Jim Meagher,
The Mediaplayer2 referred by you is already installed on my system and as
I mentioned earlier the problem exists even with this latest player. When I
start Windows Mediaplayer2 and go to < HELP / CHECK FOR PLAYER UP-GRADE>
button (while connected on the internet) I get a message that you are
already using the latest version of the mediaplayer. While playing the
nonworking or sound muted avi files it does not download any required driver
as you mentioned.
The exact version of the mediaplayer2 existing on my system is 6.01.05.0130.
I have down loaded the mediaplayer from MS site which you mentioned and both
versions are the same.
