This is an "advanced" question for "tinkerers"
This is a re-write of the question:
I was talking about cold booting to REAL MODE DOS - A TRUE command
prompt.
THEN starting Win95 (with or with-out the diagnostic switches).
Then doing a "Start, Shutdown,Shutdown" back to a REAL MODE COMMAND
PROMPT,
NOT the last shut down screen, although MOST users WOULD BE at that
screen.
Note: You have to be "set-up" to get there.
I have read that the last transistion back to REAL MODE DOS corrupts the
file
table in memory, and that is why they hid the COMMAND PROMPT at the end
with the "OK to shut off computer now" screen. (It is also a "nice"
touch...)
I asked the question because I used to always boot to "clean windows"
                                  win /d:x
but when closing, or shutting down, I would get back to a REAL MODE DOS
PROMPT.
Sooo, the question was: Is THAT a "dangerous place" to be -- to re-enter
Win95?
Kind of a "phoney warm boot" of Win95.
Note: Anytime you can type "exit" and something happens,
you ARE NOT in REAL MODE DOS. TIA
