  Just a nit:  A *hub* doesn't have an address.
  You're using a BEFSR41, which packages several logical devices in a
single box:  a "switch" (alternative to a hub, provides multiple
ports on a network segment) and a "router" which has addresses on the
cable network and the private network.
  The hub the poster has is *just* a hub; in order to have an
addressed device, as you describe here, he needs to add a router.
