You can use Microsoft's TWEAKUI v1.33 to hide the desktop icon in question.
It's available as a free download (64 KB) from Microsoft @
http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTwea
kui.asp .

Please note the the link referenced above will likely wrap in your email
reader, so be sure to copy and paste the entire URL into your browser's

There are other ways to do it, but using TweakUI is fast, simple and free.
