Rob,

Try this:

1. Apply the patch Q251381_W2K_SP1_X86_en Iomega which is available at
Win2K Windows Update. Small patch, under 90k. It resolves some recognition
issues of Zip drives under Win2K.

2. Iomega has Win2K compliant IomegaWare. Have you tried installing that?
The updated drivers may help you.

3. Lastly, you can tell Win2K to use the parallel port in legacy PnP mode.
To do so, open Device Manager (right-click My Computer -> Properties ->
Hardware tab) and expand the Ports (COM & LPT) entry. Right-click the
Printer Port (LPT1) entry and select Properties. In the Port Settings tab,
select the Enable legacy Plug and Play detection option. When you reboot
your system, the ZIP drive should be detected automatically.

If this doesn't work, you'll need to do some Registry editing. Run regedit
and locate the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Parallel\Parameters
key. Create a new DWORD value called ParEnableLegacyZip and give it a value
of 1. Exit from regedit and run the Hardware Wizard (Control Panel ->
Add/Remove Hardware) and your ZIP drive should show up.

Last tip was from Paul Thurrott and can't hurt although you say the Zip is
recognized in "My Computer" and in "Windows Explorer".

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Richard

--> I just recently upgrade one of my computors to Win 2000. I

--> I went with FAT32 when setting up the hard drive. I can still access an

--> I could be wrong, but I feel it doesn't have anything to do
