> Some time ago I backed up some work onto floppy discs ( 14 discs in
total ) using Microsoft Backup on my Windows 95 PC. I now need to restore
the files on these discs to my PC but have since purchased a new PC which
has a Windows ME operating system. When I try to open the discs I receive a
message advising that there is no programme associated with these type of
files. It would appear that "MS Backup" is not part of my Windows ME System.

You'll have to install the Win95 version of restore to retrieve the files.
This is a problem with using Win9x backup/restore. Once the files have been
backed up it requires that specific Win9x version of restore to retrieve the
files. Other versions of Windows restore as you've found are clueless about
the format of those files.
