Suggest you download and try the excellent shareware program
from Thornsoft called Clipmate.
With it constantly lurking in the background, all you have to do is
keep on highlighting text, pressing <Ctrl><C> to copy the text,
then go to the next text you want and repeating the steps.
Clipmate simply writes it to its ever expanding database where
you can retrieve, reformat (remove special fonts, etc), remove
extra line breaks and glue items together where you can then
treat them as one complete block of text that you want to then copy
someplace else.
Larry,
Thanks for your reply. Some of the above features, namely copying
text to a 'database' is already available in a program that I use
- Notetab.
However what I was looking for was something a little extra - to
automate the subsequent steps, namely to write that text into a new
file in a folder of my choosing.
Here's a summary of my original question again:
>>
I often need to copy text from documents that I am
browsing through and set it up in a 'readme' file
in an appropriate folder.
So the steps currently are:
Copy selected text
Click to appropriate folder in Windows Explorer
Go to File/New/Text document
Rename 'New Text document' to 'Readme'
Click on Readme file
Paste text
Save file

Thanks
