Thanks for the encouragement, Sven.  I have used free ZoneAlarm for 
several years, but might try Comodo's firewall on another computer 
sometime to check it out.  And our standby for years here for spam is 
Mailwasher--which is certainly the best I've found.  I guess I always 
hope for something easier!  One of the best things about Mailwasher, 
besides letting me delete direct from the server, is that it seems to be 
a very trim program that doesn't interfere with other activity--i.e. 
doesn't hog resources.
