Related to my switching the system to a another hard disk, my Avast
antivirus is no longer working. Worse yet, I can't reinstall it either. I
get a "Buffer overrun detected!" message for program "...\avast.setup" and
the install quits. Searching the web, I found that I am not alone, but I
could not find the cause or solution other than a complete reinstall of
Windows.
I am not too concerned because I will, in fact, be doing a complete new
install of XP on my newly arrived Pentium D Shuttle computer. However, I am
still curious as to why I get this failure message. No other programs seem
to be affected.
