Meher,
Here is what I sent to Kent Jacobson with some additional info.
A trick I use with Windows 98 after a blue screen is to let it boot
up normally then I would let it do a proper shut down. I would then
power up and press the F8 key and select the command prompt to boot to.
I would then run scandisk at the DOS prompt. (Note: You need the
following in the config.sys for scandisk to run in DOS:
"C:\windows\himem.sys".) The command I would run in the DOS prompt for
this is as follows: "scandisk /all /autofix /nosummary /nosave". After
that I would then boot the system normally and run scandisk and defrag
and everything was working fine.
I hope that this is of help to get your system working again.
Lonnie

Subject: [PCSOFT] Same Problem of Scan Disk - endless cycling / restarts
I have the exact same problem as described by Kent Jacobson in his
message.
As suggested by someone on this list I went to DOS prompt and typed
scandisk C:\ but it promptly jumps back to Windows and starts the same
old scan disk in Windows.
How can I get it to scandisk in DOS?
Thank you.
