When dealing with pop-ups (and also applies to spams & other junk mails) it
is never wise to go to these offending websites to have your name removed
from their list. My experience revealed that these websites "tricks" you
into entering to confirm your email address for removal from their list. An
innocent individual would go ahead and enter his/her email address thinking
that his name would really be removed from their list. In doing so, the
individual is actually giving his/her email address that will be added to
the spammers database and circulated to other internet commercial websites,
for $$$. The result... more pop-ups, more junk mails!

I guess the message is... never never supply pop-up sources, spammers, junk
mailers, your email address for removal from their lists. The best
protection would be to use small programs such as SpyBots S&D,
SpywareBlasters, AdiosPopUps, etc., to take care of the problem for you.
Believe me, you'll be glad you did.

Subject: [PCSOFT] I Need Help With a Problem

> Hello,
>
> I just joined your list re a recommendation from the Computer Lady. I
keep getting an annoying pop-up add in the middle of my screen in the guise
of a Microsoft Crisis Alert, saying my system is subject to attack. It's
address is www.endads.com I've gone to their website to try and remove
myself from their list, but it's very confusing and says 'no guarantees'.
It must be on some sort of timer, because it pops up about every 15 minutes.
I'm running on Windows 2000 P on Internet Explorer. Any help you can give
me to finally rid myself of it would be greatly appreciated!!
