Print selection works fine for me in word, excel, powerpoint, internet
explorer. No such option in visio. Not sure about other applications.
Word seems not to bother about headers and footers if you print a
selection - but this is fairly reasonable. Excel can print selected
cells or selected sheets. Powerpoint can print selected slides but you
have to be in slide sorter view to select multiple slides. I probably
use it most in IE for news articles, to avoid the ads, links and other
embellishments.

The selection button is always available if I have a selection, grayed
out if there's no selection. So the only confusion is there seems not
to be a problem!
