The swap file is the virtual memory. This file is use as an exertion of your built in memory and it is normally manage by the operating system. If this file is to large and you want to make it smaller the best way to do that is to add some more memory to your computer. You can also change the limits as to how big you want this file to be (I would not recommend this since you will start getting error telling you that you are running out of memory).
