That's an easy one!  Go to www.mozilla.com and download a free copy of 
Mozilla Thunderbird.  Set as your default email.  To set the font size 
permanently to a given size in Mozilla Thunderbird, Options, select the 
Composition tab, and select your font and size (mine is set at Variable 
Width, and Medium; I change the font to suit myself if I'm typing in 
HTML).  If you still get messages with text that is too small to read (I 
do!), you can fall back on <ctrl> + +.  HTH!
