I recently downloaded InCtrl5 from PC Magazine. Here's its overview:
"InCtrl5 records a "snapshot" of your system before the install utility
runs. Afterward, it records another snapshot, compares the two, and reports
the differences...
InCtrl5 is the fifth incarnation of one of PC Magazine's most popular
utilities, and naturally has a number of new features. InCtrl5 was designed
for and tested under Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT4, and
Windows 2000."
I haven't used to yet, but it appears to do exactly what you request.
Interface is simple and well presented.
