Hi Anna;

I ran OpenOffice and MS Office 2003 on the same XP box for years with no 
issues, other than the aforementioned default extensions having to be dealt 
with. OpenOffice 2.4 comes with the Ubuntu .iso (at least with Hardy Heron 
((8.04)). I haven't made much use of the program on my Ubuntu box yet, but 
it has worked well the few times I have.
