The following assumes you have the proper program to open the files,
and the problem is "just" with your printer or printer/driver...

Here are two ways to overcome the problem. The first prints directly,
the second creates the file pages in PDF files...
This may be a real "stretch", but one program I need for local taxes
recommends the following to overcome printer driver problems.
(See more below for PDF conversion.)

Set up a LaserJet Series II printer driver in your system.
You do NOT need to own or have the printer physically installed.
Do NOT install this driver (printer) as the default printer...
    In Win9x, go to start>settings>printers,
In WinXP, go to start>printers and faxes,
    then:
    doubleclick on add printer.
Use the Wizard to add the above model.

Every time you open the program you want to print from,
in printer setup, select the HP LaserJet Series II printer from the list.
Then print normally.

I would add: Put a VERY small amount of paper in the printer for a
test so it does not use tons of paper before you can shut it down in case
something goes wrong...

FWIW, I use a much easier method... I installed the CutePDF writer
driver (free with no spyware, etc or watermarks)
http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/Writer.asp
I print to that as a stored PDF file, and then print the file(s) in Adobe reader...

Either method might work for you...

               Good luck...
