I'll tell you how we would get a fairly current copy of IE6 to update
systems we would rebuild for learning centers.
You know those Earthlink and AOL Discs you get in the mail? If you want IE6,
look for AOL 8 Or I use the newest Earthlink that has the sentence "45 Days
free" writen on the front. These discs always have a version of IE on it.
This is what I do with the Earthlink:
Put the disc in and let it auto start, then cancel the installation. Open
Windows Explorer, adn look for the CD-ROM drive. Click the plus signs and
migrate to the \windows\msie folder. Now lood for ie6setup.exe and
doubleclick to begin installation, If the disk you use has the file
ie5setup.exe, the more than likely it is version 5.5.
Since using the Earthlink CD's, I haven't used the AOL's much for finding IE
on them, but the procedure is the same.
