I just this week accomplished what you inquired about. Complete
instructions can be found at:

There are about four ways profiled, I chose the second one and had no
problems whatsoever. The only reinstall was a couple of drivers, and I
probably could have avoided even this small annoyance by reverting to a
backup copy of my registry.

By all means go ahead and do it. . . it was among the easiest reinstall of
Windows I have ever accomplished.

One thing that helped immensely was using Partitiion Magic as I was moving
to a new, larger HardDrive at the same time.
