Hello Diane,
What has happened is that a system restore point was created, either
automatically or manually by you, while the system was infected. Windows
protects those files and you have to deal with it differently by doing the
following:
Be aware that you will lose all restore points by following this procedure
but because they are infected you don't want to use them anyway. Go to Start
Menu \ Control Panel and open "System". In System Properties, click on the
System Restore tab and place a check in the box "Turn off System Restore" or
it may read "Turn off System Restore for all drives". Click "OK", close
everything and restart the computer in safe mode.
After the system has restarted, run another system scan with AVG.
Afterwards, it should show the system to be clean. Restart normally and
repeat the above procedure, this time turning System Restore on again.
Restart again and go to Start Menu \ Programs \ Accessories \ System Tools \
System Restore. If there isn't a System Checkpoint listed, manually create a
restore point.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Trojan Horse Downloader
I am running Windows XP Home and every so often, a message pops up on my
desktop that says the trojan horse downloader.9.bk is located in the
following file and to run AVG to remove it: C/system volume
information\-restore{421DB980-0407-487E-AB84-68D71352088E}\RP189\A0008843.exe
I have updated & run AVG several times along with the usual other programs
such as Spybot S&D etc. Cannot get rid of this message even tho every
program I have run shows no virus. Can someone please give me a clue???
Thanks,
Diane Sweat
