Barbara: Make sure:
1. That your Antivuris program is disabled.
2. Likeswise your screensaver
3. Disconnect/turn off and UBS printers or scanners
4. If you are on cable (i.e. as 24/7 connection) disconnect this too
5. Likewise any LAN connection
6. Check task sheduler that anything else isn't running.
If this fails, go into safe mode and see if that works.
Don't forget to restart your 'puter after diskscan/defrag.
