I had to boot up in safe mode with networking and was able to get online to
download malwarebytes and remove a virus called "koobface worm". AVG removed
part of it but malwarebytes removed more but not all. I then had to keep
updating malwarebytes for like four days until they had a fix for this
thing. I actually got the virus from facebook. It got in to a friends friend
list and emailed itself out to all her friends saying I had a message from
her. It did the same thing in my friends list but, I quickly warned everyone
not to open it it wasn't from me. The message contained a link to a you-tube
video which instantly hijacked my browser IE and after AVG removed part of
it it seemed ok until my AVG tried to update and it would not let it. Then I
tried to go to AVG's site and it would get re-routed to other sites. In safe
mode W/ networking I could go anywhere I wanted and that's how I finally
solved it. Also, turn off restore points or it keeps coming back. After
you're sure you have it removed turn restore points back on. I don't have
vista I have XP pro so i'm not familiar with vista.
