Dear Mary,

My understanding of the way anti-virus programs work is that one can
only have one of them installed at any one time. Trying to install
two, even if only one will be used at a time, will create serious
conflicts. Recommend you don't even try it!

As a long time user of AVG I can recommend it - it's very easy to
use, runs quietly and efficiently, and is, of course, free (for a
single user and non-commercial use). It seems to be very thorough
indeed. I moved to AVG some years ago when my paid-for Norton's
upgrade refused to work properly, and have never regretted the change.

By the way, the free version of AVG is not readily available on the
regular AVG site - what is free there is 30-day trial of their
paid-for version, which has a few more features - AVG has a separate
site for the truly free version, and the link is

Good luck - = Cheeta
