It sounds like your fonts folder isn't a system folder any more.  If you
have the MS powertoy Tweakui, there is an  option to repair the fonts folder
under repair.  I'm not sure if going to dos and giving the fonts folder an
"s" attribute does the same thing.  Maybe someone else would know.  You can
get Tweakui at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/contents/powertoys
