Hello all,

The company for whom I work deals a lot in the Purchasing department with
product images. The idea is that (potential) vendors, inventors, etc. send
in photos of their products for our people to review and pass along, if
appropriate, to the necessary people.

Nearly all of the photos received come either via e-mail (as attachments)
or on CDs. And well over 90% of those images are in the Mac format (.tiff,
etc.)...to Windows-based PCs. So, normally the images are transferred over
to the lone Mac in our facility (via e-mail or the tried-and-true
"sneakernet") and then all the reviewing and, ultimately, the forwarding to
whomever takes place from there. This is not the most efficient
methodology.

In an effort to make this process less cumbersome and time-consuming, I've
installed some freeware that helps a little. (They allow us to, first, get
to "some" of the data on the Mac-formatted CDs and, second, open/manipulate
most of the images--.tiff files--we get.) But this, too, has not brought us
anywhere near the efficiency that I think we can achieve.

I know hardly anything about Macs and so I'm looking for some help in
filling this need. So, what do I need?

Well, I need a PC-based program that allows users to view and retrieve
Mac-based files on CDs, in e-mail...whatever--images, text, et al. Our PC
users don't really need to modify the images; just open them, verify a
couple of items, and then send them along via e-mail.

With some of the reading I've done on this topic I must say I don't think
I'm gaining much ground so I'm really in need of "the voice of experience."
That is, specific recommendations or websites with pertinent information.

Thanks in advance for the help.

        Brian
