It sounds to me as if you accidentally added something to the "Normal"
template. That can happen if, for example, you create another template
which builds on the "Normal" template, but fail to restrict its
applicability (i.e., you let it be "global").

I don't know how to back it out of there. I'll be as interested as you if
anyone can suggest how.
