No, not as far as I know. Just delete it to Recycle Bin for a week or two,
so you could restore it later in the unlikely event you need it.  Once
installed, Java just sits silently in the background, only executing
whenever it's needed by your browser.

Maybe the desktop icon activates the installation process. Open it and see
what happens. Or it might just be an update icon, in which case you may as
well delete it. "Install it and forget it".
