I only have a suggestion, not an answer...
Is this ONLY with WORD?
Have you tried to format any floppies?
Boot to a Start up disk, and try to format a different floppy...
If you put in several different floppies and "do" a refresh,
do the files displayed on the screen (properly) change?...
I have had three or four Teac floppy drives in different computers
fail in the last year or two. All were about 3-6 years old...
Check the cable, etc...
Good luck... Rick

Hello: I'm using WIN 95. When I try and save a file to the floppy drive
from WORD, I receive the following message:
MICROSOFT WORD
Cannot save the file. The location you want to save to is write protected.
I have checked the floppies, all OK, and the tag has not been moved to
'write protect.' I have tried different floppies, the result is the same. I
used Norton Utilities 2000 to check the A Drive; it reports no problems. I
have also cleaned the head. I have no difficulties opening files from the A
Drive.
