I have a 35 computer lab, a 15 computer lab, a 12 computer lab, two 4
computer labs and a few single computers stashed around campus. As well as
50 or so computers in the Biology & Chemistry labs.

We use either Fortress or WinGuardian depending on the location and have
the systems set up so that they cannot be modified by the students. They
allow you to set password protected Read-Only attributes to directories,
files or file-types. (e.g. set *.DLL or *.LNK to ppRO)

We also use Ghost to copy a system from one machine to another either via a
laplink cable (4MB/min) or over our TCP/IP connections (12MB/min).

You can also export the software registry keys to an *.reg file and just
double click it to reset the defaults for your application software. You
can also use the poledit.exe that comes with the Win95 PowerToys to set
system policies, but you cannot password them and a student with poledit
can undo them.
