Hi Michael,
You're lucky - this is a simple setting for the Start Menu.
XP style - r-click the Start button (or the Start Menu -bottom-or top bar or an empty
spot) > Properties > Customize > In the Programs section, select the number of
programs you want to be shown.(Or clear the list if you want)
On this panel click OK,then on the Properties panel, click Apply and OK.
If you run the Classic style Start Menu, your only choice is to r-click the Start
button > Properties.Under Customize there is no selection for the number of programs
like in the XP style menu, but you can clear the most recently used entries by
clicking the Clear button.
( It is only in the XP style Start Menu that a copy of recent programs is listed -IOW
- In the Recent Documents folder are a lot of (shortcut) entries of items you have
accessed recently, but for the XP style menu, only a copy of the (recently used)
programs are listed in the lower left side of the Menu)

OpSys is WIN XP Home. Seems as though every time I call up an application, the icon
for it appears in the bottom half of my Start menu, which gets pretty crowded. I
keep having to use "Remove from this List" . Is there a way to stop the icons
populating the Start menu?
