You mentioned that the ISP-offered software is Trend Micro.
To answer your question: Trend Micro has a good reputation
and after reading the reviews I would consider them a very good candidate.
It was mentioned that the scanning didn't slow down the computer by 
much,meaning,it's done efficiently, if somewhat slow.
But their detection rate is quite good as well.
So now it's up to you how you want to handle it.
You can still Google for some reviews on Trend Micro if you want.

Other sites may have a different outcome and rate
the suites according to their criteria.
In general, it turns out that TrendMicro is considered somewhat in the
