Debbie Grabb asked:-
I've never been successful in putting the results of an Advanced Filter on
a different sheet than the original data. Is there a way to get the results
to a different sheet to begin with?

The trick is to set up the second sheet with the Criteria and Extract field names
copied from the sheet containing the data. Then start the Data/Filter/Advanced filter
on this second sheet. The Advanced Filter dialogue box appears on the second
sheet and the "list range" "Criteria range" and "Copy to" are filled in as normal.
(Worth naming the "List range" - makes it easier to deal with Advanced Filter
dialogue box.)

If you start the procedure from the sheet with the data and try and pick up "Criteria
range" and "Copy to" from the second sheet you get an error message.

A slight annoyance is that if you do several queries Excel forgets the "List range"
each time and it has to be filled in for each query, something that doesn't happen if
all the work is done on the same sheet. A simple recorded macro sorts that out
though.
