I talked to a Microsoft professional and he went through my machine with a
fine tooth comb. Not only will Nero not work, but nothing else will either.
Apparently the reason is that XP will not recognize the burner that came
with my Compaq Presario 7970. In order for me to be able to use the burner
I will have to purchase the hardware that is compatible with XP.
Thanks so much for your help though.
