I have installed Office 97 on my PC, running on Windows 98. When I open an
Access database and go to File/ Get External Data/ Import, I get the
expected Dialog Box. I am offered in the 'Files of Type' drop down menu
Microsoft Access, Microsoft FoxPro, dBase (5, III and IV), Paradox and ODBC
Databases.
I am not offered Excel.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Office 97 and Access a number of
times (both as typical and as custom installations) and have installed parts
of Valupak 97, without being able to have Excel included in Files of Type.
Excel (and also Lotus 1-2-3) is included when I install the same version of
Office 97 on a laptop running on Windows ME and on a colleague's machine
with Windows 98.
I can copy an Excel spreadsheet and paste to Access.
Am I making some simple mistake?
