I've had similar things happen to my machine at work. Suddenly the Tab key brings up a minimized window, letter keys open drop-down menus, etc. A colleague tole me this happens to him when it's "static-y" out. Basically, the keyboard starts acting as though the Alt key were being pressed all the time. The only thing for it is to reboot. Other than being annoying, however, it seems to be harmless. You could try using some kind of static-buster to try to [revent this, but I don't know if you'd be successful.
