Hello Pattie,

This can occur when the sender is using AVG Anti-Virus and has it set to
certify "all" outgoing mail. This inserts the certification in the e-Mail
and upon receipt Outlook Express (OE) "sees" it as an attachment. The
attachment will only show that way in OE if the e-mail is HTML formatted.
This is caused by OE not following the industry standard for inline
attachments which should show in the body of the email, not as you are
seeing it.

A work around to this annoyance is for all AVG users to change it's settings
to only certify incoming and outgoing e-mail with attachments or, to not
certify either. (AVG Control Panel \ E-mail Scanner \ Properties \ Configure
button). This setting does not affect the scanning of e-mail.

Subject: [PCSOFT] paper clips

Why all of a sudden are paper clips for attachments appearing on most of my
messages in Outlook Express? Most of the emails show a attachment(paper
clip), but when you click on the message there is not an attachment. I have
Windows XP.
