HI!
Need some RAM advice.
My computer:
HP Pavilion slimline, 1y/o, 4 GB installed RAM, Win7/64 bit.
For the past several days my PC has been extremely slow in loading the
desktop.
Yesterday was the worst.....about 30 mins from the the time Widows
started to the loading of the desktop. Then the windows & system froze &
I did a hard re-boot.......several times.
It starts fine in safe mode.
I finally called HP tech support; as per their instructions, I performed
standard system maintenance functions such as de-frag, hard drive check
& repair, etc. Also used the installed HP system utility for
troubleshooting...no problems found. The PC finally restarted again.
albeit still slowly to get to the desktop.
I then ran a full system virus check with Avast...no viruses. Also
scanned with two spyware programs & Windows Security essentials......no
malware or spyware of any significance.....just some cookies, etc.
Could this be a memory issue?
I use Opera Browser & have always had a problem with
"non-responding".........this seems to be the worst offender.
Occasionally other programs act up as well.
I have been thinking about doubling the RAM to 8GB.
Would this solve my current problem?
Please advise.
Deb in northern Illinois
Thanks.
