Elaine,

Using Run will only work if the executable is in your Path, or you enter the
full path. Try "winword.exe" (without the quotes) instead of "winword.
/exe", or "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\winword.exe" (include
the quotes as there are spaces in the path name).

If that doesn't work, you could do a search for "winword.exe" to find out
where it got to. (Start > Find > etc...)

Several things could have happened to cause your error.
The executable could have been deleted or otherwise modified, such as by a
virus or mousing/keyboard mistake.
The executable could have been moved to another location by a
mousing/keyboard mistake.
The shortcut could have been modified somehow.
Worst case scenario is your hard drive is beginning to have problems and is
losing sectors. You should see other indications (i.e. error messages,
scandisk wanting to run, etc.) if this is occurring.

Subject: [PCSOFT] MSWord Access

Computer just over 3 years old - have Windows 98SE. For the first time I
cannot access MSWord. Icon changed on desktop from regular Word to MSACCESS
icon. Whenever I try to get into documents, get message "winword.exe is
needed - can't find it." I tried "start>run>winword. /exe" - result "cannot
find." How do I find it? I can use WordPad and get into last few files
used,
but not Word. Thanks for any help.
