While installing a windows 98 compatible application I
got an installation error which I did not note.
Immediately afterwards my taskbar and desktop icons
disappeared. I have not been able to get them back.
CTRL-ESC had no effect nor did clicking anywhere on
the desktop. When I pressed CTRL-ALT-DELETE I was able
to shut down. Now every time I start up everything
starts normally, but no taskbar or desktop. I am able
to start in SAFE mode, but with no taskbar or desktop.
I am able to run SCANDISK, SCANREG/FIX,
SCANREG/RESTORE with no effect. When I press
CTRL-ALT-DELETE to shut down, only Mdm shows in the
Close Program window.
I have searched on the internet for solutions and have
found some suggestions, but none that have worked so
far.
Do I have to reinstall Windows 98 over the current
installation?
