Are you sure you are using a new CD that has not already been written to? Sometimes there are even bad CD's in new packs of disks.

I am having a problem with writing to CD-R's. The drive writes to DVD-R and CD-RW with no problem. It used to write to CD-R. I set up to burn (add files), click burn and SONIC DigitalMedia Plus 7 tells me there is a problem writing to CD. Says not enough disc space. Or it ejects disk and tells me to insert a disk.

Tried with BurnAware Free and it does the same thing. Sometimes it says disk is not writable. Anyone know what is going on? ROXIO SONIC is no help. I miss EZ CD Creator on Windows 95. Click and drag.

What file are you tying to burn, and for what purpose?
Iso files can often be "mounted", or burnt to a flash drive, depending
on need.

Hello again,

Thanks for your suggestions. The Matshita ujda750 DVD/CDRW drive works
and has not failed; I checked the specs and found, as you said, that it
does not write DVDs although it will read them. And I have removed the
excess burning programs I tried, in case the one I have was faulty.
So I suppose the next step would be to get an external drive which will
burn DVDs. Any clues as to which might be suitable?

Again, thanks,

Ron
