Assuming there are no crashes, bottlenecks, or roadblocks on the
"highway", an email message should be delivered from one ISP to another
ISP in a matter of seconds. If you are dealing with web-based mail
systems (like Hotmail), then it can take 15-20 minutes -- even several
hours in extreme cases.
