You did not make clear what your desired goal is. Do you want to make a
folding booklet out of an 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper? This would produce a 5.5
by 8.5 booklet. If this is your goal, then there are a couple of ways to go.
Depending on the version of Word that you are using, you may have the
booklet capability already there. I have done it quite a few times.

The first step is for you to combine all of the individual file into one
Word document. Whether each file will remain on one page will depend on how
you formatted it and the amount of text you have there. To force a new page
you can press CTRL Enter at the end of a page.

You will need to set your page size and margins so that it reflects an 5.5
by 8.5 page. Here is what the help section of Word says about a booklet:
================================
Start a new, blank document.
On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Margins tab.
In the Multiple pages list, select Book fold.
If your document is not set to landscape orientation, Microsoft Word sets it
to landscape.

In the Inside and Outside boxes, type or select the amount of space you want
for the inside and outside margins (margin: The blank space outside the
printing area on a page.).
If you need even more space along the fold to accommodate binding, type or
select the amount of space you want in the Gutter box.

In the Sheets per booklet list, select the number of pages you want to
include in a single booklet.
If the number of pages in the document exceeds the number of pages you
select for a booklet, Word prints the document as multiple booklets.

Select any other options you want in the Page Setup dialog box.
Add text, graphics, headers or footers (header and footer: A header, which
can consist of text or graphics, appears at the top of every page in a
section. A footer appears at the bottom of every page. Headers and footers
often contain page numbers, chapter titles, dates, and author names.), and
other elements to your document as usual.
==========================
An alternative to this method is to use a commercial product such as Click
Book from Blue Squirrel Software. Click Book appears as a printer on your
system and you simply print to the Click Book printer and it produces a
booklet. This is then sent to your real printer. I have used both methods.
Click Book is much easier to use, but using the Word booklet printing
directly produces a bit better results.

Hope this helps,

Peter
