While these third party solutions do wonders, I would personally
recommend trying out a new browser with built-in popup blocking. For
example, You can look at using Mozilla as a web browser
(www.mozilla.org). It is a free program and very stable. It features
built in popup blocking and email filtering, as well as a number of
other "nifty" features. For those of you who are more adventurous,
there is also Mozilla Firefox (same page). This is a browser only, and
does not come with an email program built in. But, you can also
download Thunderbird (an email program) from the same site and use them
together.

>I am VERY IMPRESSED with my "Smart Popup Killer" - it passed every test you suggested perfectly. And it enables/disables (greys out) from the system tray with one click. I highly recommend it. You know when it is blocking because it plays a sound (IF you want it to) so if you want to get a popup window and don't, one click will allow it. It's really great. I do still get popups on one site : mediacom TVguide.com listings and they are VERY annoying - they come on with very loud sound. I wish I knew how to stop those. -Ann Fennell
