hi...I have been using Norton 2001 antivir** program for about 10 months now
and haven't incurred any problems with it until today. When I click the
LiveUpdate button I get the following alert .....
LIVE UPDATE COULD NOT CREATE A TEMPORARY DIRECTORY
Live update could not create a directory to store temporary files.
Make sure you have create and write access to the Windows
        95\98 All Users directory.
As a test,I tried copying a file to the All Users directory and to the
Symantec directory it contains and the file copied without a problem.I'm not
quite sure, but that would seem to tell me that I have create and write
access to these folders. My Norton 2001 still has 63 days before live update
expires.I then downloaded the latest definition files manually from the
Symantec site and they installed with no problem.I'm not comfortable doing
this as I then won't get any program updates.I might also add that I have a
second computer networked to this one and today I was able to use live
update successfully on that computer.I've never had this live update alert
before and wondered if anyone has had the problem or knows what may have
caused the problem? Any help rectifying this problem would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks,Gary Burke.
