As a follow-up I deleted the file and it did not fix my problem. :( It did
give me some ideas. I have found that the discolored icons are the ones that
are short-cuts and file icons.
Where are they stored? Things like the two computers and a phone icon or the
Real Player icon. When I do a properties on the short-cut desktop icon and do
a change icon they all appear there for me to choose. If I choose a new icon
it still comes up trashed. Where are those icons stored? I think they are all
trashed.
