On each "new" bootup, IE cannot find the server. In Tools, Internet Options, Connections the button next to "Never dial a connection" is checked. I then check the button "Always dial my default", which is MSN. I then apply, OK & it works for that session. On reboot, I'm right back to " Never dial...." It worked OK for two years.
Any Ideas. Thanks, Bill
So what you are saying is that you can shut down IE and it keeps
the settings while the PC is still running, but it looses the settings
when you reboot the PC. If that is correct, then I would guess
your problem is with Windows itself, not IE. For some reason
Windows is loading a previous version of the system registry with
the "old" settings. Try this:
Load IE.
Make your changes.
Close IE.
Backup your system registry files. (*.DA0)
Backup your system registry files again. (*.DA1)
Shut down and reboot.
If that doesn't work, post THIS message __and__ your
results to the list, 'cuz I'm outta ideas.
Good luck,
Jim
Jim, I tried your suggestion on the back up. No success.

You suggested a number of things & if they didn't work, post another message. Let me tell you what I did before I posted the original message. 1. Ran SCANDISK, 2. DEFRAG 3. REPAIR thru ADD/REMOVE 4. Reinstall IE5.5, 6. Setup a new connection thru the Internet Wizard. On reboot it still goes back to "Never Dial.....".

no messages.
