Hi Mary,

To the very left of your Microsoft Word window and at the very top do
you see a tiny little bar laying on it's side?  If so, it could be the
tool bar hidden.  I think there are several bars above the actual window
that you create the document in and they can all be 'hidden" so that the
document window is larger.
